Terms of use
Terms for the Roll website, community and desktop software purchases.
Last updated: 6 November 2026.
Who we are and when these terms apply
Roll is supplied by James Harrison Rushworth, a sole trader trading as Resolvia in New Zealand.
For purchase, refund or privacy enquiries, including requests for our Privacy Officer, email contact@resolvia.net or contact support.
These terms apply when you use our website or community, and form part of your purchase agreement when you accept them at checkout. Read them with our refund policy and privacy policy. If purchasing for an organisation, you must have authority to agree on its behalf.
Your consumer rights
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986. We do not contract out of the Consumer Guarantees Act for business purchases through these terms. Mandatory protections in your country may also apply.
What you are buying
Roll is downloadable desktop software for editing scanned negatives. The trial allows 36 exported photos in total, including half-frame photos. A paid licence unlocks exports beyond that limit. Check the downloads page for available operating systems and architectures and try Roll on your computer before purchasing. Windows and macOS installers are not currently published; a licence purchase is not a promise of a future release date.
Prices and payment
The licensing page states the price and transaction currency. Stripe Checkout shows the final total and any applicable tax, including GST, before you confirm payment. Your bank may charge its own currency conversion or transaction fees. A Roll licence is a one-time purchase, not a subscription; there is no automatic renewal. There are no physical shipping charges.
Digital delivery and cancellations
After successful payment is verified, we issue your signed licence key and email a link to retrieve it from your account. Use the same email address for checkout and sign-in. Delivery normally follows payment confirmation, but verification or email delays can occur. Check your account and spam folder, then contact us if it has not arrived within one working day. You can leave checkout before confirming payment. Change-of-mind refunds are not offered; use the free trial before purchasing. After payment, cancellation and refund requests follow our refund policy and your statutory rights. No physical goods are supplied or returned.
Your software licence
On payment, we grant the purchaser a non-exclusive licence to install and use the purchased edition of Roll on computers they own or control, for personal or commercial editing. The licence has no recurring fee or expiry for that edition. Keep the key private; do not publish, resell or share it, or distribute copies of the software as your own product. Rights permitted by law and licences for third-party components remain unaffected. You retain ownership of your scans and exports. A purchase does not promise particular future features, operating-system support or free future major editions.
If a purchase is fully refunded or cancelled, the right to use its paid features ends and you must stop using that key. Offline activation cannot be remotely removed. Contact us about any partial refund or disputed payment so we can explain and correct its effect on your entitlement; a dispute is not itself a final decision about your rights.
Accounts and community contributions
Use accurate account details, protect your email account and do not use another person’s account. Follow the community guidelines. Do not interfere with the service, bypass access controls, infringe others’ rights, or submit unlawful, abusive or misleading content. Only upload presets and text you have permission to share. You retain ownership and grant us non-exclusive permission to store, review, display and distribute your contributions to operate the community. Publishing a preset allows others to download and use its settings; deleting it cannot recall copies already downloaded.
We may withhold or remove contributions and restrict website access when reasonably necessary to address breaches, security risks or legal obligations. Where practicable we will explain the reason and allow you to seek review through support. An account restriction does not automatically cancel a paid desktop licence or your consumer remedies.
Care, availability and responsibility
Keep backups of original scans and review edits and exports. Community presets are contributed by users and results vary with the scan and workflow. We take reasonable care in providing Roll and the website, but cannot promise uninterrupted website access or compatibility with every computer or scan. We remain responsible for failures and losses to the extent required by applicable law; these terms do not impose a blanket exclusion of liability or limit your statutory compensation.
Changes and resolving concerns
New Zealand law governs these terms, subject to mandatory rights in other countries. Contact us with a concern and the outcome you seek. You may use the New Zealand Disputes Tribunal or a court with jurisdiction, and nothing requires you to waive a complaint or card dispute right. We publish changes here with an updated date and give reasonable notice of material changes affecting ongoing website use. Changes apply prospectively and do not retrospectively reduce rights attached to an existing purchase without your agreement.
